Let's repeat the exercise from the Freedom of Light course, where we learned how to convey the character of the firs in different ways using different brushes. We will choose the most successful technique to use in the big artwork.

We will paint three small preparatory studies with silhouettes in order to practice depicting trees of different characters.

We will paint a big artwork on a 38 * 56 cm sheet in the analogous color harmony. We will depict fog over the forest, we will practice depicting the transparency of water and reflections, as well as trees of complex configuration.
It has already become a tradition for me to share with my students only my best plots, full-fledged watercolors of exhibition quality, in which you can go through all the stages of working on a large format and demonstrate many techniques and secrets of mastery.

This work was shown at the international exhibition in Melbourne, Australia (3 place, sold out there), and the video with this watercolor has got almost 1 million views on Instagram.

Above, I have indicated the materials that I recommend and use constantly myself. But your materials may differ and that’s okay!
You can use your usual brushes and paints. If you do not have some pigments, many of them can be replaced with similar ones or can be mixed. I use masking fluid in two out of four works and it really comes in handy.
