In this course, I want to share my love for the Sea — for the ocean as a dynamic symbol of life itself! Throughout the lessons, the sea will appear before us in many forms. We will explore a variety of scenes, focusing not only on mood but also on content and technical approaches: sunset light and calm water using the wet-on-wet technique, daylight scenes, effects of foam, splashes, and transparency with and without masking fluid, introducing a human figure into the seascape, and mastering soft light and shadow transitions — a unique “highlight” of the course, as people rarely appear in seascapes.
This course contains various subjects with water. We will learn to depict sea glare of the sun on the water on a bright clear day, learn to depict calm transparent water and water with waves and noticeable stones under the water, learn to depict objects near the water with reflections
In this course we will learn how to portray water in dynamics, learn principles and techniques to create realistic watercolors with water in mountain rivers and waterfalls, recharge its energy and channel it into a creative direction!
1️⃣ Salty air. Let's paint a boat at the pier, and talk about color and composition, the role of details and technique.
2️⃣ Rocks of Capri. Let's continue our virtual watercolor journey by painting a view of the famous rocks.

4️⃣ Venetian boats. End our journey in the setting sun on the romantic shores of Venice. Let's paint glimpses of the sun, lace reflections and colored reflections on the dark lacquered surface of the gondolas.

1️⃣ Sparkling on the waves. Let's do the exercise to understand the basic principles of painting water. We will paint a watercolor with highlights on the water.
2️⃣ Boat on water. Let's dive into the intricacies of the image of water. We will talk in more detail about the colors of sea water, learn how to make beautiful reflections.
3️⃣Stones under water. Increasing the difficulty. We will learn how to show the transparency of water and draw stones under water and shadows from objects "hovering" above the water.
This course was conceived as a series of lessons on winter landscape, but in the process of its creation I realized that it turned out to be wider than one season and the patterns described in the course are applicable to other seasons and even to other genres of painting. Depicting white objects is a challenging but interesting task that we will tackle in this course, discovering new knowledge about coloristry and, of course, perfecting watercolor technique.
1️⃣ Materials for watercolor painting and the first steps. We will do some exercises: the first washes, color streaks, gradients. We will paint a study with a transparent branch.
2️⃣ About achromatic tone, grisaille. We will do an artwork using the grisaille technique: a landscape with fog in a limited color palette.
3️⃣ Color and color harmonies. We will do my special original exercise. After that we will do an artwork to reinforce the material.
4️⃣ Expressive ways in watercolor. We will practice doing various effects. We will put this into practice: we will paint a spectacular artwork with a lighthouse.
5️⃣ Landscape. We will paint three states of the day: morning, noon, and evening.
6️⃣ Final artwork. We will create the final artwork with yachts, where we can apply all the knowledge we have received.
1️⃣ Winter night. We will paint a small but spectacular study with a winter landscape.
2️⃣ In between seasons. We will paint the hazy mood of a frosty November day using a limited color range.
3️⃣ Cherry blossoms. We will create an atmospheric and technically interesting landscape with flowering trees.
4️⃣ Summer fogs. As the final plot, we will paint a summer landscape with a church.
1️⃣ The Vietnamese boat. We'll do an exercise to understand the basic color principles of creating clean and bright wash. We'll paint a watercolor with the boat at sunset.
2️⃣ The lighthouse in Malaga. We'll learn how to combine two references in our artwork: one for the plot, the other for the color scheme. You'll discover more scope for creativity! We'll talk about how to work on the details in your watercolor, how to make reflections on the water.
3️⃣ Yachts at sunset. We'll paint the sunset state of water and objects located against the sun. We'll also learn how to make the effect of sunlight and gleaming. And of course, we'll work with color.
Single lessons
One painting, start to finish. A good way to try the way I work before taking a whole course.
This lesson is dedicated to the development of a separate skill - the ability to work on large formats in watercolor. It must be developed and practiced if you want to participate in exhibitions and go international, if you want to achieve a higher level of mastery of the material.
Human figure in water is a complex and unusual subject, and I decided to show you all the stages from pencil drawing to the final touches.
1️⃣ Exercise "The watercolor effects map"
We'll repeat the exercise from the course "Watercolor Basics" to learn as many principles as possible for creating unusual textures in watercolor.
2️⃣ Exercise "Firs with watercolor"
We will learn how to convey the character of the firs in different ways using different brushes.
3️⃣ Study. We will paint a study with mountains on a small format.
4️⃣ Final artwork. We will paint a big artwork on a 35 * 50 cm format. We will learn how to make the sunlight effect in a landscape.
1️⃣ Exercise "Firs with watercolor". We will learn how to convey the character of the firs in different ways using different brushes.
2️⃣ Exercise "Learning to convey character". We will paint three small preparatory studies with silhouettes in order to practice depicting trees of different characters.
3️⃣Painting a landscape. We will paint a big artwork on a 35 * 50 cm sheet in the analogous color harmony. We will depict fog over the forest, we will practice depicting the transparency of water and reflections, as well as trees of complex configuration
1️⃣ Exercises "Pure mixes". Let's do a little exercise from the Sunsets course to understand the basic coloristic principles of creating clean and vibrant fills.
2️⃣ Exercise «Color matching» + Study. In this tutorial, we will analyze what colors are suitable for depicting vibrant sunsets. Perhaps you already have suitable colors, and you can prepare them guided by the principles I have suggested.
3️⃣ Painting the final artwork. Let's get down to some great work. We start with a pencil drawing. I dwell on it in detail, because it is important for us to depict the architecture in a quality manner.
1️⃣ Theoretical materials. Let's get ready for work: we will study the theory of building angular perspective and reflections. By your numerous requests, I will share a photo layout of all the colors in my palette, which I use in everyday practice.
2️⃣ Painting a landscape. We will paint the artwork on a 28*38 cm sheet. Let's paint the fog over the river, practice depicting reflections, architecture in the landscape and the evening state of nature, applying the acquired knowledge.
